Position: Food Production Team Lead
Organization: Real Food for Real Kids
Location: East End of Toronto, ON - 115 Saulter Street South (Lakeshore/Carlaw)

Reports to: Production Manager
Direct Reports: Food Production Team

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 3:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Compensation:

  • $19 per hour
  • Employee Savings Program (RRSP/TFSA Matching)

A glimpse at the role:

The Team Leader is responsible for guiding our food production team in the daily operation of order fulfillment. The Team Leader is accountable for meeting production requirements by effectively leading, coaching, training and developing pack team personnel; focussing on safety, quality, production targets, problem-solving, and effective communication.

Some of the things you’ll get paid to do:

General Responsibilities

  • Oversee high volume food production, including organizing, weighing, and counting food items
  • Ensure that best practices are being followed to minimize waste
  • Ensure a safe work environment is being maintained at all times
  • Adheres to production plan; assisting in the scheduling and reassignment of personnel; accomplishing goals, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, and resolving problems
  • Maintains quality service by contributing to the establishment of and adherence to RFRK’s policies and standards
  • Ensure proper temperature control of perishable products
  • Oversee and ensures proper housekeeping of workspaces
  • Timely communication of all pertinent information concerning production, problems, and related action plans with all relevant stakeholders/departments
  • Responsible for end of day closing procedures
  • The daily collection of data for reporting purposes

Inventory

  • Manage prepared food inventory
  • Ensure items are in stock and have been staged for following production day

Team Lead Responsibilities

  • Ensure employees are working in a safe manner and following health and safety policy and regulations
  • Lead team to attain or exceed production goals with the ultimate goal of exceeding customer quality expectations
  • Provide coaching and training to further advance your team’s technical ability as well as increase safety and quality performance; address key issues and concerns with employee development
  • Support the selection, orientation, and training of employees, and the performance appraisal process
  • Confirm hourly and temporary employees start and finish times.
  • Contributes to the planning and coordinating employee vacation schedules
  • Ensure teams adherence to recipes and other departmental processes

Required Education & Experience

  • Min. of three (3) years of experience in a manufacturing/warehouse environment
  • Min. of one (1) year of food production experience
  • Min. of one (1) year of experience in a similar role
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Skills & Personal Attributes

  • Positive and open-minded attitude, with an ability to motivate others to get things done right
  • Works well in a team environment; collaborative
  • Ability to multitask and problem solve
  • Effective communicator
  • Min. of an intermediate level of computer literacy
  • Ability to work on your feet for a full shift
  • Ability to repetitively lift up to 25 kg
  • Basic understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English
  • Basic mathematical aptitude including: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division

Nice-to-haves

  • Food Handler Certificate
  • Exposure to HACCP practices
  • First aid and CPR Certificate
